Boyd Lake State Park, within an hour’s drive of Denver and Fort Collins, has something for all types of water recreationists in every season: boating, fishing and swimming in the summer and ice fishing and lake-side hiking in the winter. Known best for its diverse bird populations, the changing seasons bring more than 200 species of migratory and resident birds to Boyd Lake. White pelicans are commonly seen throughout the summer months and bald eagles during the winter months where they can be seen sitting on the ice next to open water.
