Crawford exhibits the classic features of the western slope - rugged beauty and outstanding views of geologic features like Needle Rock, surrounded by mountain valleys and expansive ranch lands. It’s easy to imagine the inspiring scenery offered by a park so close to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison (North Rim). The pinyon-juniper woodlands that cover the park’s uplands are rich in plant species, such as mountain mahogany, Gambel oak, Fendlerbush, Mormon-tea, skunkbrush and Spanish bayonet. The reservoir is 400 acres and provides for great fishing, boating and watersports.
